Weather in the San Juan Mountains

The average high temperatures in July and August range from the mid 60s to the mid 70s; at night it gets to the low 40s. In September both the highs and lows drop by about 5 degrees. In July and August afternoon thunderstorms are not uncommon which results in a plethora of wildflowers, green meadows and tundra. It is also a source of sudden temperature/climate shifts. To be prepared layering is highly recommended; please follow the clothing list.
