This trip is a joint effort between Redwood Llamas and the Telluride Academy. The first part of the trip is a visit to the Redwood Llama Ranch in Dove Creek, Colorado. The ranch is located in the Canyon Country on the Utah/Colorado border. The first night is a barbecue on the canyon rim overlooking the beautiful serene canyon country of Utah. The next day is a tour of the ranch visiting the many Anasazi ruins of the Ancestral Puebloans located on the ranch. At this time of year the llama babies should be a few weeks old, we will visit them and their mothers -cute would be an understatement! The next day is a visit to Hovenweep National Monument which is only 20 miles from the ranch. The last day at the ranch is Llama Olympics with events and games. The next week the second portion will be llama pack trip into Bear Creek near Dolores, Colorado. The first day is a 4 mile hike to our base camp along the creek. The next 2 days are spent exploring this beautiful creek area which is alive with native cutthroat trout. We’ll also partake in our Llama Olympics with events and games. The last day is the hike out to our starting point. to book this trips visit www.tellurideacademy.org.
